Hub for Blue Green Innovation
Our goal is to remove impediments, helping innovators in BlueTech and Green Maritime to succeed and to flourish.

DOER, in Alameda, is a partner to the Hub for Blue Green Innovation. DOER provides "working access to the ocean through responsible and sustainable design, manufacture, and deployment of cutting edge submersibles and related technologies."

The “Sea Change” Zero Emission Hydrogen Ferry, operated by the San Francisco Bay Ferry, is a collaboration with Switch Maritime. It is the world's first commercial ferry to run on hydrogen fuel cells. The vessel began operating in San Francisco in Q3 2024.

Treasure Island, in San Francisco Bay, is undergoing major renovations. These include addition of a ferry landing from SF Ferry, a partner to the Hub for Blue Green Innovation.

Autonomous undersea vehicles, created for data collection, are manufactured and developed by our partners Bedrock Ocean (Richmond, Ca.) and also by Alameda-based DOER.

Monitoring, maintenance and repair of undersea cable is a challenge being met by new BlueTech ventures.

The USS Hornet, now retired from duty, is home to a naval museum, and is moored in West Alameda.

Mare Island, a former Bay Area naval base in the North Bay, is home to active boatyards and a large marina.
